STADTBAUWELTSEOULBANG
Gernany / Korea 2008

Seoul - a megacity, inhabited by approximately 10.4 million people. Whereas the population is extremely open for mainstream fashion and technology trends, the cityscape seems to be more chaotic and less structured than the society itself. A special issue on Seoul in STADTBAUWELT-magazine, the leading German journal on architecture, traces Seoul's various architectural and social patterns to give a profound insight into the city and into Korean society.
In collaboration with Udo Lee, I have been guest editing the STADTBAUWELT issue on Seoul (36.08) during 2008. I also worked as the main photographer for the issue and photo-edited the journal with 54 of my photographs.Regarding the topics the question of how present social dynamics constitute and form architectural and social spaces, the articles and photo series are deliberately not summarized under one conceptual theme. Following the fragmentary character of the city, they should rather highlight different aspects and deliver approaches for deciphering the city.
