Vision Hall and the Red Dot Design Awards

At Hyundai Motor Group University in Mabuk, the Vision Hall Media Wall received three RED DOT DESIGN AWARDS. I photographed and filmed the project to document this milestone and the ideas behind it.

The awards recognize work across design, film, and interaction. In this case, the Vision Hall Media Wall received honors for Best Event Design, Best Interactive Film, and Best Corporate Film. Together, these awards highlight how design and technology can work as one.

Inside Vision Hall

Vision Hall sits within the human resources development center of Hyundai Motor Group. The space combines architecture, sound, and moving image to create an immersive environment for employees.

The media wall measures 24 by 3.5 meters and uses hundreds of micro-tiles. As a result, it can display content at very high resolution. In addition, a 36-channel 3D sound system shapes how people experience the space. Rather than acting as a screen alone, the wall becomes part of an ongoing exchange between the company and its staff.

About the Red Dot Design Awards

The Red Dot Design Award recognizes excellence in design across many disciplines. Since its start in 1955, it has become one of the most established international design competitions.

Each year, projects from around the world are reviewed by an independent jury. Receiving multiple awards for one project places Vision Hall among a small group of recognized works.

Documenting the Project

I was responsible for filming and photographing Vision Hall for the award submission. My focus stayed on how the space functions and how people interact with it. Instead of highlighting scale alone, I paid attention to rhythm, movement, and detail.

The visuals also document collaborations within the project. In particular, they show the work developed together with Universal Everything and Do Ho Suh. Their contributions shape the tone and identity of the content shown inside the hall.

Universal Everything and Digital Art

Universal Everything was founded in 2004 by creative director Matt Pyke. The studio works at the intersection of art, design, and technology. Over the years, it has collaborated with many international brands and cultural institutions. At Vision Hall, their digital approach supports the idea of constant movement and change. This fits naturally with the purpose of the space and the broader goals of the project.

Design, Collaboration, and Process

Vision Hall brings together architecture, film, sound, and digital art. Each part depends on the other. Because of this, the project reflects a shared process rather than a single vision. From filming on site to the final Red Dot recognition, the project shows how collaboration can shape complex spaces. My role was to observe and document this process as clearly and honestly as possible.
