Working with Goethe-Institut Korea

A Promo Film for Goethe-Institut Korea

We recently completed a short promo film for Goethe-Institut Korea. The film follows four people whose lives intersect in subtle and everyday ways.

I’m grateful to the Goethe-Institut team for their trust and steady support throughout the process. I also want to thank the four protagonists who shared their time and presence with us: Kkobbi Kim, Seungmin Cha, Hyunjee Ha, and Kyung-Sung Lee.

Working Through CONTENTED

The project came together through CONTENTED, our Korean-European production company. I worked closely with Neil Dowling as director, while I took on cinematography, editing, and color grading.

The production stayed focused and collaborative from the start. That allowed us to work with care and remain attentive to the people in front of the camera.

Four Lives, One Film

Rather than building a single storyline, the film connects four individual perspectives. Each person moves through their own routine, yet small overlaps begin to appear. The Goethe-Institut provided a quiet framework for these connections. Instead of explaining its role directly, the film lets daily moments and interactions speak for themselves.

Working with Kim Kkobbi

It was a pleasure to collaborate with Kim Kkobbi on this project. Her approach was focused and restrained, which helped keep the balance within the group. She brought experience without drawing attention away from the collective story. That presence mattered for the tone of the film.

Experience and Perspective

Kim Kkobbi’s career spans many different roles and formats. What stood out most during the shoot was her ability to adapt and listen. That sensitivity helped shape scenes that felt natural rather than staged, which was important for a project built around everyday life.

Closing the Project

This film reflects what I value in commissioned work: trust, collaboration, and a shared sense of responsibility toward the story. I’m thankful to everyone involved for making the process thoughtful and straightforward.
