Plastic Girls Selected for Indie Memphis Documentary Shorts

Plastic Girls Screens at Indie Memphis Film Festival

I’m happy to share that PLASTIC GIRLS has been selected for the Documentary Shorts Competition at the Indie Memphis Film Festival. The festival takes place from November 1 to November 5 in Memphis, Tennessee. INDIE MEMPHIS has built a strong reputation for supporting independent voices. Being part of this festival feels like a good place for Plastic Girls to continue its journey and meet a new audience.

About Plastic Girls

PLASTIC GIRLS is the final film in a Korea-related trilogy that also includes BIKINI WORDS and LAST LETTERS. All three films share an interest in space and architecture, but each approaches a different subject. This film is the most playful of the three. It looks at Korean shop mannequins as a way to talk about gender and the sexualization of public space. Rather than pointing fingers, the film creates a sense of discomfort that invites reflection. There is a detailed interview on the film blog DIRECTORS NOTES that goes deeper into the ideas and the making of PLASTIC GIRLS.

Screening Information

PLASTIC GIRLS will screen as part of a documentary shorts program alongside other international films. Screening details:

Saturday, November 3, 01:00 PM – Theatreworks @ The Square (2085 Monroe Ave, Memphis, TN 38104)
