Overview
As a Netflix cinematographer Based in Seoul, South Korea, I worked on this interview project featuring Lee Ji-eun (IU). The piece centers on her reflections about her first film project, the connection between music and acting, and the most memorable advice she has received as a performer.
The interview was produced in support of her Netflix series Persona. Rather than framing the conversation as a conventional press piece, the approach remained direct and focused. The structure allowed her responses to carry the rhythm of the edit, with minimal visual distraction.
Optical Lab Production hired me to execute the shoot in Seoul, South Korea. My role as director of photography was to establish a clean and balanced visual setup that would feel intimate without becoming overly stylized.
The production took place in a contained studio environment. We focused on controlled lighting ratios and neutral color contrast to ensure the final image aligned with the platform’s overall visual standards. Editing and pacing were structured to let the conversation breathe, avoiding unnecessary movement.
This project reflects my broader work in interview and performance-based productions in Seoul, where clarity and restraint support the subject rather than overshadow it.
