Overview
As an architecture photographer Jeju Arario And D&D DEPARTMENT COMMISSIONED MYSELF TO documented the opening of THEIR JOINT COMPLEX. D&Department Jeju by Arario in Jeju City, South Korea, is the largest within the D&Department network and brings together multiple functions under one architectural concept.
The complex includes a restaurant, store, gallery, and the D Room accommodation facility. In addition, D News provides a kitchen, gallery, and sleeping area designed for artisans, artists, and designers who stay on site to host workshops and collaborative programs. The space operates as a cultural hub rather than a single-purpose building.
I was hired prior to the grand opening to photograph the project in its completed state. As an architecture photographer working in Jeju for Arario, the focus was on clarity and spatial understanding. The building’s layout connects hospitality, retail, exhibition, and residential elements, and the images needed to communicate this continuity.
The approach remained observational and precise. Wide compositions established the relationship between structures and surrounding landscape, while interior frames emphasized material surfaces, light transitions, and circulation paths. Jeju’s natural light conditions played an important role in shaping the final imagery.
This collaboration with Arario and D&Department reflects my broader architectural photography work across South Korea, particularly within projects that merge cultural, retail, and residential functions.
