Overview
As a director of photography, I worked on the Korea segment of this global McDonald’s TVC campaign focused on the universal appeal of McDonald’s fries. The concept plays with a simple idea: everywhere in the world, people believe their local McDonald’s fries are the best – even though the recipe is the same.
The campaign began with a debate sparked in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region and expanded into a global conversation. The film highlights how something consistent across markets can still feel personal and locally owned. The Korea segment was produced as part of this international rollout, aligning visually and structurally with footage captured in other regions.
My role as director of photography was to maintain consistency with the global visual framework OF this TVC while adapting to the Korean production environment. Commercial work of this scale requires precise coordination between agency, production teams, and brand guidelines. Lighting, camera movement, and product detail all had to match the established campaign language.
The result is a Korea segment that integrates seamlessly into the larger campaign while retaining its own rhythm and energy. As a director of photography, my focus remained on visual execution, translating the global creative direction into a controlled and consistent final image.
