OVERVIEW

AFTER THE SUCCESSFUL POSTER ISSUE (GRAPHIC #20, 2011 - PROPAGANDA PRESS) GRAPHIC MAGAZINE AGAIN ASKED GRAPHIC DESIGNERS AND ARTISTS TO DEVELOP POSTER DESIGNS TO EXPLORE THE CHANGING FUNCTIONS AND AESTHETICS OF POSTER MEDIA AND COLLECTING AND RESEARCHING POSTERS, A VISUAL CULTURAL HERITAGE. THE POSTERS YOU SEE IN THIS NEW ISSUE (GRAPHIC #39, 2016) ARE THE FRUITS OF THIS VOLUNTARY COLLABORATION, CONTAINING A DIVERSE ARRAY OF IDEAS RANGING FROM POSITIONS ON PARTICULAR SOCIAL ISSUES TO THE MOTTOS THAT INFORM THE DESIGNERS’ WORK. WHILE DIFFERING A BIT IN THEIR FOCUS, ALL OF THEM SHARE ONE COMMON QUALITY, NAMELY A MESSAGE THAT POWERFULLY CAPTURES NOT AN ECONOMIC INTEREST, BUT THE VALUES THAT THEY WISH TO SHARE WITH THE PUBLIC. IN ADDITION TO APPEARING ON THE PAGES OF THIS ISSUE, THEY WERE PUT UP IN VARIOUS EXHIBITION VENUES IN HONGDAE, MAPO-GU, SEOUL FROM NOVEMBER 3RD TO 13TH 2016. PROPAGANDA PRESS HIRED ME AS A PHOTOGRAPHER TO DOCUMENT THOSE EXHIBITIONS IN SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA.
