Exploring Ladakh: Seoul based Filmmakers make a trip for Samsung to the Himalayas

Embark on a mesmerizing journey through the rugged beauty of the Himalayas with three talented filmmakers – Nils Clauss, Neil Dowling, and Kuiock. As filmmakers and directors merely based in Seoul, South Korea, CONTENTED is thrilled to share this Samsung-sponsored project titled A Journey to Ladakh. The promo delves into the heart of Ladakh, India, capturing the seamless coexistence of technology and tradition.

Samsung’s Global Reach

Our excitement peaked when CONTENTED got the chance to collaborate with Samsung, a giant in the tech industry. Ladakh, an unconventional choice, proved to be the perfect canvas for showcasing Samsung’s global impact. Suprisingly, even in the most remote corners of the world.

Discovering Leh

The quaint town of Leh served as our gateway to the Himalayas. As we acclimatized to the high altitude and dry conditions, the unique charm of Ladakh unfolded before us. Samsung’s highest altitude mobile brand store at 3,500 meters stands testament to the brand’s commitment to this community.

Special Bond with Leh

Samsung’s international video campaign emphasizes community-based global involvement. Leh, with its 30,000 residents, holds a special place as home to Samsung’s highest altitude mobile store. The story unfolds as a delivery driver navigates challenging terrains to bring Samsung products to the shelves. His efforts showcase the brand’s commitment to connectivity and community development.

Overcoming Challenges

The breathtaking Himalayan backdrop presented challenges for both crew and gear. Altitude sickness, dusty conditions, and cultural differences added complexity. Yet, with a local support team, we, based in Seoul, navigated through these challenges, capturing the essence of Ladakh’s beauty and uniqueness.

Multi-Disciplinary Filmmaking

Nils and Neil, renowned for their multi-disciplinary approach, share insights into their collaborative filmmaking. As a cinematographers, DoPs and directors based in Seoul, their role in this journey adds a unique perspective to the project. Despite the difficulties, the duo’s diverse skill set contributed to a project that goes beyond conventional branded content. The journey unfolds not only in Ladakh but also in the collaborative minds of Nils and Neil. Their distinctive roles – Nils focusing on visuals as a cinematographer and Neil on storytelling as a writer – blend seamlessly to create a signature style for CONTENTED, based in Seoul.

What Lies Ahead

As we wrap up our Ladakh adventure, our lenses turn to new horizons. Commercial projects with international partners and a Korea-related trilogy are on the horizon. Nils and Neil, celebrated filmmakers, continue to explore diverse narratives, ensuring each project tells a unique and impactful story.

Beyond Ladakh: A Glimpse into the Future

What’s next for CONTENTED? From a feature documentary to global campaigns, the duo remains committed to pushing boundaries. Neil, now residing in Norway, shares his desire to return to Seoul for upcoming projects, while Nils, based in Seoul, hints at potential collaborations on familiar yet unexplored grounds.
